And I am a procrastinator. There, I have said it. I've known it for a long time and I've said it before but this is my confession and resolution blog post. So I'll state it plain and simple.
I have this big issue that I need to just face, recognize, and change. I procrastinate and what's worse is that the majority of the time my procrastination stems from getting distracted. I can't seem to stay focused on one thing for too long. This is true in all facets of my life. I can't read just one book at a time. I have to start multiple craft projects because I get bored with the first one. I play World of Warcraft and have 9 toons but I only have 1 at max level. /sigh.... Oh here's another one...I have 9, yes Nine blog post drafts just sitting there in the Draft folder. Fail, fail, fail-diddy Fail, FAIL!!
I don't usually believe in making New Year's Resolutions but my eyes have been opened to the fact that I procrastinate WAY too much. So here is my simple resolution. I resolve to take life one step at a time. My mind is racing with all of the things that I want to do this year, I can think of at least 10 things right off the top of my head. And maybe I will get to them but this year I am really going to try and focus on one goal at a time.
My first goal is going to be getting my driver's license. I'm almost 30, like *almost* as in just a few days from now, 30. And I really struggle with the fact that I don't have a license and haven't for a while. Not only does not having a license make life difficult, but it makes me feel like I'm still a kid that has to be driven around everywhere, and it Sucks. I Hate being stuck at home with no option to just hop in the car and drive somewhere. I am really not a homebody, I would much rather be out doing something. So I feel like a caged monkey sometimes.
I am going to make 2014 different. In 2014 I will do one thing at a time. It is time to feel like I've actually really accomplished something. I always feel good after finishing a project, or a book, or anything really. So this year I plan to accomplish life goals; things that I've wanted to do but have put off. I love checking things off lists so maybe I'll make a list and cross them off as I complete them.
Speaking of lists, I have done some things off my 101 in 1001 list so I'll update that. Then hopefully in the near future I will post an update post and tell you all about what I've done! :) That is a list for another day...one thing at a time, remember?! ;) lol
Your Self-proclaimed Procrastinator,

Crushed and Created
Ok, so as you may have figured out I love a variety of music. Music is a way of expressing myself and who I am. If I am depressed, I listen to depressing music just to know that someone else gets depressed too. If I feel empowered, I listen to something that feeds that empowerment. Lately I have been in the need of some new music, new artists, and something different but I just could put my finger on what my mood has been. Every once in a while Spotify (aka Pandora on steroids) will send me emails with artist suggestions so I picked one of those artists, started a radio station for them, and fell in love.
I'm sure you're curious as to what I fell in love with so here are some of the artists that I've found: Ryan Calhoun, Elise Lieberth, Jason Walker, Sara Haze Jon McLaughlin, and Caitlyn Smith. I was getting very tired of mainstream music so the new voices, EP albums, and covers are a wonderful change of pace.
The real purpose of this blog post is to share a song that I came across in my new music discovery; it's called Crushed and Created by Caitlyn Smith. Lately I have been feeling very crushed. I've been depressed, work is stressful and full of drama, I'm coming up on my 30th birthday in January and in some aspects I'm not where I thought I would be, and it's hard for me. This song talks about the fact that we are crushed and created the same way. Life is a cycle of things that die, so that something else can live.
The bridge talks about being stronger in the end. I don't think, ok I know, when it comes to my current situations I'm not strong BUT this song provides me hope. It serves as a reminder that I may feel crushed, discouraged, and out of place now, but it won't always be that way. At the end of these tests and trials, I know that I will come out freer, wiser, and stronger; everything will work out in the end, it always does.
Jessy <3
P.S. If you don't know about Spotify, you're missing out. Spotify gives you the chance to not only listen to random songs like Pandora, but you can also create your own playlists. You can Star songs to go back to later and it's perfect for music addicts like me. Check it out HERE!

Things That Remind Me of Fall
Fall is my favorite season, I love everything about it. Carmel Apples, Crisp Mornings, Fog, Pumpkins, Kettle Corn, Colorful Leaves, Witches and Black cats, Apple Cider, Scarecrows, Scarves and Boots, Trick or Treaters, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and my list could go on. When I was growing up Fall was something that I looked forward to, especially once we moved to Idaho. I only lived there a few years but I fell in love with it. The town that I lived in was small, or at least felt small, and every year they would have different festivals on Main Street. During October it was the Scarecrow festival, they would have the streets all decorated with pumpkins and hay bales, scarecrows and witches. They would make drums of kettle corn and apple cider was the drink of choice. Arizona is very different, we don't have seasons. lol So right now I am missing the old times. Here's to wishing I could bring Fall to Arizona...lol
What reminds you of Fall or what are some of your favorite memories?

Writer's Block
Dear Little Blog & Followers,
I know it has been a very long time since I've have posted anything and I feel bad. I have definitely missed blogging but every time I sit down to write something I don't know what to write about. My life has been kind of boring and a little depressing lately so I don't what to post my rants or be a downer. I can guarantee that my posts would be both of those and no one should have to read about my drama.
That being said I will keep this post brief. Hopefully someday soon my life will be less boring, a little more uplifting, and worth writing about. I have been doing a few things with my 101 in 1001 list so maybe I'll post an update soon.
Yours Always,
Jessy

The Nail Files 6/21/13
Well, let's see how long has it been since I've posted to The Nail Files...hmmm.... April 26th?!?!?!!! What the heck? I lost my umph for nail art for a little bit but let's see a few that I did do. :)
These first nails remind me of a Pop Star. The little stars are a stamp and the pink shatter is a Sally Hansen crackle polish.
PAC-MAN!!! I have wanted to do these for so long. You would think that the little Pac-man dude would be easy but for some reason it took me forever. It may be because I am somewhat of a perfectionist...lol If you ever do this make sure to get some striping tape for the straight lines; it worked wonders!
These ones were inspired by a shirt that I bought while I was in GA. The shirt is grey and black striped with a skull and a few hearts. I can't do little skulls so I figured just hearts would work. :) The pink on all of my nails is the new Sugar Coat from Sally Hansen, it's textured and so much fun! And I topped it all off with a matte top coat.
Now for my current nail design, Van Gogh's Starry Night. This is another one that I've wanted to do for a while and just haven't. I got the idea from Cute Polish's Video on YouTube.
Here's a close up of the thumb nail on my left hand. Yes, my LEFT hand. Please someone note this as the only week that my left hand will look more realistic than my right hand. :) YAY for impressionistic art!
I hope you liked my nail designs. I can't wait to decide what to do next week! I got a pretty new holo polish while I was in GA too, so I may have to try that one out.
Your Nail Artist,
Jessy <3

Quizzical Questions: Candy, Candy, Candy!!
Ok, so I have all sorts of chocolate in my office, this is a well known fact. My dear friend Peggy doesn't know how I can keep chocolate in my office and not eat it all. Truth be told I keep a stockpile mainly for my co-workers. It is known that if they ever need chocolate, there will always be some in my office waiting for for the much needed pick-me-up. I have come into work and will randomly find $5 bills in my desk, that's when I know that we need more chocolate. lol Don't get me wrong, I do eat the chocolate too. I have those days when I can't have enough chocolate but most of the time it goes untouched and waits patiently for my co-workers.
Well, I have discovered that there is one chocolate that won't last in my office...those would be Mini M&M's. I don't know what it is, but those are gone in a blink of an eye. It's a "now you see it, now you don't" trick, I just don't know how it happens. lol
That brings me to my quizzical question...What candy can you not resist and is eaten before you have a chance to blink?

I Need An Intervention
Hi, my name is Jessica, I am a professional procrastinator and I need an intervention.
Yes, when I say professional I really mean professional. If procrastination was an actual job, I would be CEO of the company. You know how I know this? By all of the things that are half done. For example...
I haven't posted a blog post in almost a month but I have 8 drafts that I am "in the process" of writing; so they are sitting there, waiting to be finished and posted.
I waited until the last week of my Spring classes to do all 4 of the honors projects that I should've been working on all semester. Luckily they weren't that hard and I did get them done.
I have a knitting project that has been half done for around 3 months. The really sad part is that it's a washcloth - which could be done in a couple hours, but instead it has sat there.
In a year, I have only read 10 out of 100 books for my 101 in 1001 challenge. However I have started reading and am in the middle of about 4 or 5 books. One of them is Dracula which I started reading in October....*giant pause*...of 2011.
While we are talking about entertainment, I can't seem to finish most shows that I watch on Netflix. This could be more of an A.D.D. issue but I've been jumping back and forth between shows. I started watching Bones but I don't remember if I finished it. I started to re-watch LOST, skipped to watching Doctor Who and actually did re-watch all 6 seasons - at least that's one I finished. Then I started TWO new series I don't think I really got into either of them, so now I am re-watching Torchwood. Poor Buffy the Vampire Slayer got forgotten, long, long ago.
Probably one of the worst procrastinations would be the Christmas cards/gifts that I haven't sent yet. I jokingly tell myself that they will get Christmas in July this year. *big sigh - shakes head*
Ok last one, I am in the middle of putting together a wedding album. Doesn't sound too bad except for the fact that it's my own wedding album and I've been married for 9 years. *sighs and laughs at self*
Please, please tell me that I am not the only person who procrastinates like this!! For those of you who procrastinate (even though it may not be of my caliber) how do you make yourself finish all of your projects or do you?!

Here's to already thinking about what to do for my nails next week,

101 Progress - Marpril
Marpril [mahr pruhl]
noun
1. combination of the months March and April
Origin:
April 2013; Jessyism
I thought that title needed a little description. Anyway... It's time for a 101 in 1001 update. I haven't posted since mid February so here we go!
~ Learned the harmony for "We Are Young" as sung by the Glee Cast. I can only sing it with the Glee Cast version, but I can sing it nonetheless!
~ Got a Pen-pal!!! YAY!! So I am bad and never sent off my postcards to the ladies in Canada and Spain BUT, I have a new pen-pal who lives in the states! She's a blogger friend who is also doing the 101 Challenge. We both wanted pen-pals so Voila! Pen pals! lol We have both sent and received letters so that makes it completely official!
~ Since I have a pen-pal that obviously means that I did send a letter, and it was to a new friend! :)
~ I helped Andy start up his new catering business (Officially started on April 1st)
~ I own 100, yes 100, bottles of nail polish! Half way there and it hasn't even been a year yet. Oh, I forsee more than 200 bottles by the time my 1001 days is up.
~ I have 306 pens/pencils for my collection.
Song of the Month:
February: Mood Rings by Relient K
March: Like a Prayer by Madonna I swear that woman followed me around on my shoulder for at least a month!! (btw...that music video is very bizarre)
April: Belle from Beauty and the Beast I have woke up with very random songs stuck in my head this month everything from Pop and CCM to songs from Disney movies.
Jessy <3
P.S. I am still refusing to talk about my weight loss, and my reading goals. You can ask me about my weight loss goal AFTER my hubby's baking class.

The Nail Files!
I think I am finally creeping out from behind the funk that I have been in; painting my nails is actually starting to be enjoyable again. YAY!! Man the things winter will do to you! lol
This weeks design was simple, fun, and cute! Those are my three favorite descriptive words. :) For this design I used another Sinful Colors polish, Dream On (Matte), a white polish, a black shatter, and NYC's Matte Me Crazy top coat. I haven't really done any matte designs before because shiny, glittery, nails make me happy, but I think the matte top coat is growing on me.
Anyway, here are two pictures of my nails from this week and before you ask, Yes that is the same color in both pictures. I know, it's crazy but true. The Dream On color really took on a chameleon's essence and drastically changed depending on the lighting. The top picture is what it looks like in the bottle, so the purple hue really threw me for a loop.

It's Okay
It's OKAY...
...that I haven't really started my honors projects yet (Yes that is plural).
...that my final for my psychology class is due next Thursday and I haven't started it either.
...to want a completely new wardrobe, but hate shopping for clothes.
...to always have to have something sweet after I eat lunch or dinner.
...that everything has to be even both proportionately and numerically.
...to be having a "Crystal withdraw", she lives in town but I haven't seen her in forever. I miss you Crystal!
I guess I'll stop while I have 6 listed, after-all I can't have just 7 items listed. LOL Does anyone else have any little quirks like that?

30 Things About Me: 20 Random Facts
After looking at the list of 30 things that I must disclose about myself, I've decided to start with my 20 random facts, which ironically is the first one on the list. lol There are several posts wandering around that ask you to list your favorite things, or have specific facts that they want you to answer, I will try to make these different. (I said try so don't judge if I list a couple of my favorites lol)
YAY!! I came up with 20 which weren't your typical "My favorite (fill in the blank) is...." Hopefully even my close friends learned something new about me, probably not but I can dream. lol
Jessy <3
- I have never had a broken bone.
- My first official job (other than babysitting) was at Firebird Raceway in Idaho.
- While growing up I lived in the same house for 11 years and have moved 8 times since then.
- I suck at math; worst subject EVER. I have a love/hate relationship with math, I love to hate it. lol
- I listen to almost every genre of music. Music ♫ = Life
- I have worked at my current job for 9 years and I absolutely love it!
- I still have a stuffed animal collection.
- I could never begin to tell you what my favorite movie is, or what my favorite song/singer would be. Seriously. I wouldn't be able to even narrow down a favorite by genre.
- I have a tendency to always get the same meals at restaurants, I like what I like and I'm not too adventurous. It makes being married to a chef very interesting. lol
- I can rarely go one day without drinking coffee, it has been known to happen but not often. This year I have become a coffee snob and prefer French Press coffee over anything else. lol
- I have had epilepsy since I was a baby.
- I am addicted to purses. I don't feel that I can ever have too many, my husband believes otherwise.
- I don't believe that you are ever too old to color with crayons.
- I am a professional procrastinator.
- I love crafts of all sorts but my latest craft has been knitting.
- I have never been to any of the New England states. I would love to go someday!
- I'm addicted to the Candy Crush game on Facebook.
- I would love to be a world traveler! I really want to visit Europe, Paris and England in particular.
- I'm constantly on the look out for the perfect shampoo and conditioner (preferably one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg). I have yet to find the perfect combo for my temperamental hair.
- I have been singing since I could talk; I sing even when I don't know I'm singing.
YAY!! I came up with 20 which weren't your typical "My favorite (fill in the blank) is...." Hopefully even my close friends learned something new about me, probably not but I can dream. lol

Business Owners? When Did That Happen?!
My hubby has been in culinary school for the past few semesters and has been going back and forth with what he really wants to do after school. One thing that has always been in the plan was to open his own catering business. Well, he did it!! As of Monday April 1, 2013 he is now owner of Artistique Cuisine & Catering, LLC. - No joke ;) I am so proud of him!
He is putting together a bunch of stuff like the actual menu's and business cards, his website is up it's still under some construction but it's getting there. And of course we created a Facebook Page, because no company is complete without one! ;)
My hubby just has a few weeks of school left, then he will be an official Chef and will be able to put more focus into his new business. We are both super excited to start this new adventure. I can't wait to see where it will take us!

The Nail Files!
WOW...I remembered two link-ups in a row! Life must be slowing down a little bit?! HA! probably not but I can dream. I haven't been painting my nails as much lately. Honestly I have been depressed/in a funk since January and haven't really had the ambition to do much of anything. Which has included painting my nails *Readers Gasp*.... I *Know* right?! This weekend I got to spend some time with one of my girlfriends who lives out of state so we played games and painted our nails. Here are the designs we ended up with. :)
Rachel picked out a pretty shimmery teal, we topped it with a silver shatter, and added flowers on her thumbs and little dots to the other nails.
Rachel's Nails |
I just got this new purple (Sinful Colors, Amethyst) and fell in love with it! I've been looking for a good purple that doesn't have any shimmer, found one. :)
My Nails |
I love taking pictures of my girlfriends designs and mine together, it makes for fun memories. :)
Both designs :) |

...to miss people so much that you want to cry (and have)
...to be behind on homework
...to still have a couple gifts that were meant to be sent at Christmas
(I think there will be a Christmas in July this year)
...to be scared of change
...to Continuously be frustrated with a project at work
...to not want to start the Access chapters of my class (I'm scared lol)
...to eat a balanced diet of two cookies (one for each hand),

Quizzical Question: Where are you from?!
I was just looking at my pageview stats from when I started my blog until now. The highest pageviews originate from the US, which doesn't surprise me but the next country on the list is Russia. Russia?! I don't think I even know anyone in Russia. It's kinda cool to see that I may have people that far away who are reading my blog but that makes me wonder where you are from. If you are reading this post please comment with what State and/or Country that you are from; I would really love to know! :)

It's the Little Things In Life
I don't know about you, but I find the most joy in the little things in life. These are some simple things that make me smile - in no particular order.
What are some little things that make you happy?
Thankful for the little things,
Jessy <3
- Spending time with my hubby
- Painting my nails (especially with Julie)
- Playing games with Jill on Skype
- Skyping in general
- Watching a movie with friends/family
- A cat sleeping curled up in my lap
- A good cup of coffee
- Movie/Game night at Crystal's
- Watching my students fill out graduation paperwork
- Humming birds
- Hugs
- Doing crafts with friends/family
- 3 year olds - they are so curious
- Holding babies
- Baby shoes
- Talking to my mom
- Sitting on the beach
- Getting snail mail
- Baking cookies
- Hot cocoa with marshmallow fluff
- Watching snow fall
- Text messages from friends just to say hello
- Losing weight
- Sitting by the fireplace
- Christmas lights (especially on Christmas trees)
- Star gazing
- Looking through my joy box
- Reminiscing
- Singing
- Surprises
What are some little things that make you happy?
Thankful for the little things,

3 Words That You Should Never Say
A week or two ago I had a lady come into my office, we'll call her Martha, who was frustrated with herself because she didn't know how to use a computer. She was feeling very "lost" in her class, all she wanted to learn was how to send "letters" on a computer and do research for her English class, instead she was learning terminology that made no sense to her.
From the get-go I could tell that Martha had very low self-esteem, she couldn't understand why her late husband, and her kids could use computers but she still didn't know how. I listened to Martha recount how smart her husband was, and how her kids were impatient with her because they think using a computer is so easy. Martha grew up in a generation that didn't have computers but she was trying to live up to a standard that today's society has set for us. She felt that she had to prove to her kids that she was smart enough to live up to their standards as well. As her frustration turned to tears she said 3 words, "I am stupid," and my heart hurt for her.
Now, if you are reading this blog post, more than likely you know how to use a computer. But think about it, how often do you convince yourself that you are stupid because you don't understand how something works? You aren't as good at something as someone else, so you feel like a failure because you believe that you have to live up to their standards. How many times do you just give up, because you believe that you are too stupid to learn, or you can't become this person that you are expected to be.
I've been there, in some ways I'm still there. There are things that I feel like I am too stupid to learn, I'll never live up to certain standards, and sometimes I feel like I'll never be the person, or woman, that I'm supposed to be. But as I talked with Martha I wanted her to realize that she wasn't stupid, she has her own strong suits, and the only standard that she has to live up to is her own. The more I thought about my conversation with her, the more I felt the need to share with all my readers that you are not stupid. I don't care what society says, or what standards you feel like you have to live up to, those 3 words, "I am stupid," should never be said, ever.
I don't know where you are at this point in your life, I don't know what your struggles are, but I do know that you can only be the person that you are born to be. You have your own strong suits, and your strong suits are going to be different than those around you. If we were all the same, the world would be very unbalanced, because you can't know it all. So take my advice, don't ever think that you are stupid or worthless because you're not. You are imperfectly perfect. :)
Your imperfect little blogger,
Jessy <3

Happy Birthday to My Wonderful Mom!!
March 10, 2013
Dear Mom,
I just want to wish you a very Happy Birthday! You are a joy in my life and I love you very much. The world definitely became a better place when you were born and my life is changed for the better because of you. I wish that we didn't live so far away. I would've loved to get up this morning and drink a cup of coffee together. I hope your hubby spoiled you a lot!
Love you forever and always,
Jessy <3
P.S. How does it feel to be 29 again this year?! ;)

30 Things About Me
I got this post from a friend and it was originally titled 30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me, since I don't have kids I took out a couple questions and replaced them with new ones. Just by looking over these I can already tell you that some of these questions are very challenging for me. I can think of a few things but some I don't think I know the answer to, so this may take a while.
1. List 20 random facts about yourself.
2. Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.
3. Describe your relationship with your spouse.
4. List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.
5. What are the 5 things that make you most happy right now?
6. If you could have three wishes, what would you wish for?
7. What is your dream job, and why?
8. What are 5 passions you have?
9. List 10 people who have influenced you and describe how.
10. Describe your most embarrassing moment.
11. Describe 10 pet peeves you have.
12. Describe a typical day in your current life.
13. What’s the hardest part of growing up?
14. Describe 5 weaknesses and strengths you have.
15. Describe when you knew your spouse was the one or how you fell in love.
16. What are your 5 greatest accomplishments?
17. What is the thing you most wish you were great at?
18. What do you think your spouse loves most about you?
19. What is something you learned the hard way?
20. Describe 3 significant memories from your childhood.
21. Describe your relationship with your parents.
22. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?
23. What’s your favorite holiday and why?
24. If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
25. If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat?
26. What popular notion do you think the world has most wrong?
27. What is your favorite part of your body and why?
28. What’s your favorite quality in your spouse?
29. What are your hopes and dreams for your prosperity?
30. List 10 things you would hope to be remembered for.
I hope this inspires you to ask the same questions to yourself too.

101 Progress: "Once a Month" Fail
O.Kaaay... Well, it's been a while. I thought I would take some time today and blog about my 101 in 1001 progress. I have been really busy lately and haven't posted anything about my progress since September 2012. I guess I didn't meet the "Blog about my progress every month" challenge. I have decided that on my next list I am not going to put a deadline (like once a month) on myself. Life is just WAY too busy for that. So here is my update and some snippets about my life since September.
Accomplishments:
~ Visited Sarah & Rachel in October 2012, we had a blast! It was actually pretty relaxing and I will have to blog about it, because fun was had by all.
~ Hosted a Christmas Craft Party at my house in December. I had Crystal & D'Arcy, as well as Peggy & Sarah over to make Christmas ornaments. I think this is going to quickly become a Christmas tradition. :)
~ Got a nice digital camera for Christmas so I guess I don't need to buy one.
~ Finally got nail stamps!!! My mommy gave them to me for my birthday. I love her. :)
~ Actually hung a picture in my office. I know hanging one picture probably doesn't really count as "Decorating" your office. But hey, it's a start - don't judge me. LOL
~ In January, I finally got the guts to dye my hair a freaky color. I bleached my hair and then used a wash-out color to dye it red/pink. It was awesome; the reactions from everyone were classic. LOL
~ My latest accomplishment is finding a pen pal!! I actually have two! I am part of the 20 Something blogger community, which I'm not really active in. But they sent out a request for postcard buddies and I jumped at the chance! I just got my two names on Valentine's Day so I haven't had a chance to contact them yet, but one is from Canada and the other is from Spain, so I'm pretty excited to get to know them! :)
Things that I have kept up with:
~ Pedicure of the month; Okay I didn't do a cute pedi in January but I did paint my toe nails. And I haven't done anything this month, but the month isn't over :)
~ Song of the month!
October 2012 - Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5; For some reason that song was STUCK in my head like the whole month! I even made it my ring tone for a while.
November 2012 - Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt; Ok, so I just randomly picked this song because nothing stuck out for November, but I was technically already listening to Christmas music.
December 2012 - Mele Kalikimaka by Bing Crosby for Mark Anderson, who retired from MCC and moved to Hawaii
January 2013 - The One that Got Away by P!nk; I love this song. :)
Count Update:
I currently own
~ 88 bottles of nail polish, 96 if you count nail polish pens. (I count them, so 96...lol)
~ 295 pens/pencils for my collection. I am pretty proud of the fact that 278 of those are pencils; I only have 17 pens! :)
Things I am refusing to talk about:
~ My weight loss goal... um...yeah.
~ My "progress" on books that I read.
~ Letters that I have written - I sent Christmas cards to some people, does that count?
I think that concludes the list of accomplishments over the past few months. I have been busy with school, I finished ENG102 last semester. And I'm currently taking PSY101 and BPC110 (a very basic computer class). I am taking the BPC class so that I will have a study-buddy for Math, but I am actually learning a few little tricks that I didn't know about Microsoft Office. Hopefully my schedule will allow me to blog more.
Until next time,
Jessy <3
