The Tiny Untruth

I stole this picture from one of my friends blogs because it spoke to my heart. I have a hard time with trying to be "perfect." Deep down I know that will never, ever happen - because no one is perfect. But learning to live with imperfections is a hard thing for me to do. I want everyone to believe that I have it all together, and that everything in my life is storybook perfect . Truth is - I don't have it all together, and my life isn't a fairy tale. I just have to come to terms with that, and stop telling (or trying to convince) myself that it's true.

In my yoga class I was encouraged to reflect on the word, Satya. Satya is the Sanskrit word for truth. The concept of truthfulness in this sense is to not only be truthful in speech and action, but also in thought. This part of the concept was lost on me, until I really focused on it. I have come to realize that is possible to be untruthful with myself. The tiny untruth is found in those times when I try to convince myself that everything is fine - even when I know it's not.

The good thing is that realization is the first step to change. I plan to seek the truth in all aspects of my life, and encourage you to speak only truth to yourself as well.

101 Progress - August 2012

Here's what I did in August 2012

~ Blogged about my 101 progress, obviously! ;) 
~ Wrote a letter to a friend/a different friend.
~ Finished Reading the following book(s):
       The Host

~ Things fell apart with the book club meeting this month but I did create a blog for us and have already started next month's book. :) Hopefully I'll finish this month's book quickly so I can read more than one book this month. :)

~ Still writing in my journal albeit not as much this month but still writing.
~ Counted my pencils/pens; I'm at 269 - 16 more than last month! I bought 12 (they were Muppets and Icee pencils; too cute to pass up) and I found a few around my house. Some them were pens too.
         Funny story for one of the pens. Andy and I went out to lunch and the pen that the guy gave us to sign with said "The Pen has been stolen from: Douglas Pest Control Inc." Now I know that it was prolly one of those pens that was made to look like it was stolen, but it was still fun to "steal" a "stolen" pen. But if anyone asks, just tell them that I accidentally forgot and walked away with it. ;)

~ Counted my nail polish; I'm at 77!! - 5 new ones and I got all of them for FREE!!! I got a magnetic one from my mom (YAY for packages!!), I got 2 bottles of Essie as Klout perks and I got 2 for .033 cents a piece (which is free in my book) from Julep. I'm not sure how long this is going on but if you sign up to be a Julep Maven and enter in the code PENNY you will get your first Julep Maven box for one penny. ~ Found jewelry. I don't know if I'll ever find it all. But I found some and once it's all organized and in my jewelry box I'll count this one as completed. lol
~ Pedicure of the Month - It was the Olympics so of course I had to do something fun for that! ;)

~ Song of the month: I haven't found a specific song for me this month, so I think I will dedicate this month's song to my Grandma (Mom-mom) who passed away on August 1st 2007. There are two songs that remind me of her: Alexander's Ragtime Band and Flight of the Bumblebee. I found a really good video for Flight of the Bumblebee so we'll go with that one. :)

101 Challenge - May 2012

Well, I have been really excited about this 101 challenge and I am proud of myself for what I have done in such a short amount of time! Maybe it's just part of the initial excitement! :) I said that I wanted to blog post every month about what I have done, well since May is almost over, I thought I would post one today. (I guess now that I look at the date I still have a work week left eh?! O well...)

Here's what I have done so far:

~ Wrote a letter to a friend
~ Wrote a letter to open once the 1001 days is up
       (I also scheduled a blog post for Feb 4, 2015)
~ Took 2 pictures of hearts
~ Started a Journal
~ Started a "Rainy Day" fund - it's just coins atm lol
~ Joined a Book Club - now I just have to stay active ;)
~  Finished reading 3 of the 7 books that were on my "Currently-Reading"
    bookshelf on my Good reads account

Currently in March...uh April

Okay, so yes I have had this list for about a month now. And the only reason I am posting on this one is because I went to Dig Deeper Design's blog and couldn't find one for "Currently in April". lol  So here's my Currently in March...uh April post!! (I'll add a link-up box below if my fellow bloggers want to join in the fun! I'd love to see yours.)

I must admit when I first looked at this list I thought it was a little daunting (that is part of the reason I have had it in my "Drafts" for over a month). I didn't think I was currently doing that many things. My life seems to feel a little boring sometimes. Gotta love it!!! >.< /sigh... There have been a few things on this list that I was like, "I have no clue - skipping that one for now..." lol But overall, they've been pretty easy AND fun to come up with too! ;) Plus I've even added a few of my own!

Currently Counting Down To: The end of the semester. I can't wait for my English class to be OVER!!! My teacher drives me a little batty.

Currently Super Proud: Of my husband. He is in school, going after his dream of being a chef and having his own business someday. Yes, it is a little hard on me, since I've been stuck at home alone most nights, and we are broke so we really go out on the weekends. But none the less, I am proud of him and I would rather see him happy and enjoying himself than stuck in a job that he hates.

Currently Concluding: That I am a person that can't finish books. My "Currently-Reading" bookshelf on Good Reads keeps growing, but I have very few books on my "Read" bookshelf.

Currently Realizing: That I haven't read enough of Dr. Seuss' books!! All three of the first stories that have been covered in The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss I've never read. Fail Jessica....Utterly. Epic. Fail!

Currently Confessing: That I am very tempted to watch Gossip Girl all weekend instead of working on my research paper. However, the research paper is due next Wednesday, so I'd better do that first.

Currently Trying to Decide: What I want to be when I "grow-up." I keep thinking it would be kind of fun to teach - little kids ONLY!! Like Kindergarten...lol 

Currently Listening To: Hmmmm, It's been a lot of Adele. She is still my love and inspiration - maybe one day I'll be like her, confident and not ashamed.

Currently Addicted To: TV, I never thought I would say that...lol But now I have to watch Gossip Girl, Glee, New Girl AND of course The Vampire Diaries every week. I have no DVR and yet I watch most of them when they first air (what does that tell ya). Plus I have been watching re-runs of The Big Bang Theory, Oh the madness - it never ends!!

Currently Fantasizing About: Fitting into a size 16 dress. Yes, I have one and I can put it on - but it's REALLY tight. I have lost 20lbs over the past couple months tho, so maybe someday, I'll be able to wear that dress. Until then, it will remain in my closet.

Currently Waiting For: Mail - like real live letters and packages. I am waiting for my mom to send me stuff so she can teach me to cross-stitch. :) I love Skype!

Currently Sad Because: I miss TOO many people!!

Grits and Gadgets - My friend Jill's blog. Life has been busy and she hasn't gotten the chance to write lately. But I still love it! :)

Jewely Bug - My friend Julie. I love her blog, she always finds the most fun link ups and it gives me great inspiration for my own blog! :) (Yes I tend to steal...I mean borrow ideas from her. lol)

Chloe's Nails - Chloe's Nails is the first nail polish blog I followed. I found her designs through Pinterest and fell in love.

Pinterest!!!

I can't believe I haven't blogged about Pinterest!! Pinterest is a website where you can go and view all of these wonderful pictures that are links to different things: recipes, ideas for the home/office/kids, recipes, craft ideas, DIY for just about everything, O and did I mention recipes?! LOL

You have to get an invite from a friend to join the site but after that all you do is add the "Pin It" link to your Bookmark bar and you are set. Whenever you find something online that you like and want to remember where it is, just click the "Pin It" link and link a picture or video to one of your boards. When you first start your account, Pinterest will give you some boards that are already set up but you can add or delete as many boards as you want. The boards are there as a way to organize all of your pins.

Every time you pin something, your pin is posted to a wall that anyone with a Pinterest account can see. The funnest part about Pinterest is following other people and seeing what they Pin. I find Most of my pins from looking through other people's pins and repinning it to one of my boards.

I usually end up on Pinterest the most on weekends. I really try not to log into Pinterest during the week, because when I go there I am there the rest of the day. One Pin, leads to another Pin, which leads to a website/blog, which leads to another website/blog...before I know it I've got 9 internet tabs open, most of which are Pinterest tabs. LOL

Here comes the confession, I currently have 42 Boards and over 1000 pins. I have boards related to all different things like food, I actually have several of those so that everything is organized, DYI clothing and accessories, craft ideas for both adults and kids, nail/hair/makeup art, quotes to live by and I even have some funny boards, a board that's full of things that remind me of my childhood and 1 board devoted completely to Harry Potter.

Since this is the first time I am telling you guys about Pinterest, I am going to post quite a few of my favorite pins here. I promise not to do one for each board, but there will be a few. I will post links underneath the pictures to the websites where most of these originated from.

Ok ladies, I have really been into painting my nails lately. Most nights I end up on Pinterest looking at all of the cool nail art designs. One pin, leads to a blog, which leads to another blog, which leads to more ideas and - Yes you guessed it - Another blog.
