Today's Topic is: Favorite holiday tradition, new or old
There are so many to choose from!! Well, I am a sucker for the holidays so I am going to go with going to see Christmas lights. This is one from my childhood. (There aren't many Christmas lights in Arizona)
When I was younger we used to go and see Christmas lights every year. One year in particular we went up to a neighborhood in Salt Lake City, UT and they had a whole block of houses that were decorated. You drove through the neighborhood and each house had a sign up that was part of the Christmas story. So by the time you went through the neighborhood you were able to read the whole nativity story. I wish they had something like that here in Arizona. I would love to go and look at lights like THAT again. :)
It is called Christmas Street, I found a picture of it and this little 'blurb'
ReplyDeleteChristmas Street: This popular hidden gem has drawn thousands of Salt Lake residents to drive through its’ streets every year. Rumor has it that you can’t even buy a house in this cul-de-sac unless you promise to be part of the annual Christmas light tradition which has been going on for 60 years! Located near Westminster College in Sugarhouse, “Christmas Street” is open from 5:00 to 10:30 pm every night through New Years’ Eve. Address: 1500 South 1735 East.

My fav tradition is also looking at the Christmas lights. BTW when I lived in AZ we did put up christmas lights but you are right, there's not alot of lights. GA is different, maybe cause it has more trees. Anyways every Christmas Eve we drive the county looking at the lights. Recent ones have done a pretty outstanding job on them. One house goes all out and you can drive through their yard and they got blowups of the Grinch, Snoopy, Micky Mouse, I think I remember seeing the South Park Kids too...that just a few. Another house had the synchronized lights with the music, that was pretty cool.
