Book Review - Kiss of Fire

http://deborahcooke.com/Cooke%20images/fire.JPG

I decided that since I am reading all of these books, It might be fun to do book reviews. Now don't worry, I am not the type of girl who spoils the book for everyone. So I promise not to reveal too much about the books just in case you end up reading them.

This first book review is about Kiss of Fire by Deborah Cooke. It is one that found at a local bookstore in the Paranormal Romance section. LOL Since it is a "romance" novel there are some very explicit parts in this book. - You've been warned.

Here is the author's description of the book: She explains it so much better than I can...lol

"When ace accountant Sara Keegan decides to settle down and run her quirky aunt's New Age bookstore, she's not looking for adventure. She doesn't believe in fate or the magic of tarot cards, but when she's saved from a vicious attack by a man who has the ability to turn into a fire-breathing dragon, she questions whether she's losing her mind - or about to lose her heart.

Self-reliant loner Quinn Tyrrell has long been distrustful of his fellow Pyr. When he feels the firestorm that signals his destined mate, he's determined to protect and possess Sara, regardless of the cost. Then Sara's true destiny is revealed and Quinn realizes he must risk everything - even Sara's love - to fulfill their entwined fates."

As usual, this book took me forever to read, simply because I'm like that little dog who can't stay focused. I end up finding another book that is prettier, shinier, and must be read. So I end up reading multiple books at the same time. Also, this book was lost in my room for a while - it was hiding from me. lol

I will admit this book was not all that I had expected, and definitely wasn't like some of the other "Paranormal Romance" books that I've read. It did have a very good story-line and I really enjoyed learning about the Pyr lore that was told throughout the story.

In the book, Sara discovers that she is destined for far greater things than simply running her deceased aunt's book store. Her aunt even helps her realize this by making books fall to give her clues, and making sure the tarot cards end up at the top of Sara's purse. Quinn is a traveling blacksmith who just happens to have the ability to turn into a dragon and feels drawn to Sara in every way possible. He fights for what he believes is right all while trying to mend his broken heart from someone he lost in the past.

This book was hard for me to get into at first, but in the end it was a great story of love, learning how to trust after not having trusted anyone for a very long time, fighting for what is right, and discovering the power of fate and destiny.

If you're not into romance novels or anything explicit, this book is not for you. lol But if you are and like a little bit of fantasy to go with that. It was a good read. :)

The Nail Files 6/1/12

Okay so this week, I did a cute camo & dogtag design for Memorial day.  I used all acrylic paint for the first time ever, simply because I didn't have the nail polish colors to do a realistic camo design. LOL I was excited to see how long the acrylic polish would last - I had hoped that it would last longer than regular nail polish. I was sadly mistaken. :(

Before I used the acrylic paint, I checked online to see if it was really ok to use on your nails. Everyone said to just be sure and apply a base coat, which I usually do anyway. However, the only base coat I have is Bonder by ORLY. I didn't think it would be good to "bond" acrylic paint to my nails, so I used a top coat as a base coat instead. I think this was a bad idea. It was kind of a crappy top coat to begin with and my cute polish design came off the very next day. :( I was really sad because it was so cute. Luckily, I did take pics of the design before it chipped away. lol

Later in the week, the nails on my right hand, started chipping, peeling and breaking so I ended up have to cut my nails really short. :( Which almost made me cry...lol jk ;) Since I was sad and my nails looked short and stubby I decided that they needed nail polish. At least it would make me feel better, since nail art is kind of a cheap form of therapy to me. lol So I asked on Facebook, What color should paint my nails?! One of my friends recommended blue with polka-dots. I have my cool dotting tools in all sizes so that's just I did. I think this design turned out really cute too. :)

I hope you liked these designs. I would really love to try the acrylic paint again, so if anyone has any tips or tricks, they would be greatly appreciated. :)

Surprise!!! :)

It's a POST!!!! First of all, I apologize in advance...this is going to be scattered. - you have been warned. I don't know what it is about tonight but I feel very wired!! I feel like I could talk a hundred miles a minute, soooooo maybe I'll just type that way... LOL I can't explain the mood, I don't know if it's because it's my Friday and I have a 3 day weekend, or because of the fact that I just spent an hour listening to Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Katy Perry and some other artists that just plain Rock!  It could be the acoustics in my living room, I love singing in there it sounds so cool - I feel like a rock star!! ;) LOL ooOOoooo or it might be the fact that I really feel like going to the pool tomorrow and working my tan - which at the moment is nonexistent. LOL Note: Blogger does not know how to spell nonexistent...or maybe I just don't. It kept giving me resistant. lol Weird.

So it's after 9pm and I haven't eaten dinner yet, I keep trying to decide what to have. So far I have come up with possibly having blueberry waffles or having Strawberry Revel ice cream (vanilla ice cream w/Strawberry like thick syrupy stuff in it). Ice cream for dinner rocks! (Man everything just rocks tonight doesn't it?!) OOooooo I know, I'll have BOTH!! Blueberries and Strawberries go together right?! LOL

Now I have a final decision to make, read, waste more time on Facebook, waste time on Pinterest, write something - like a creative writing prompt something - or Ohh idk...there are lots of things. Too many things...my nails are painted and pretty so I'm not going to paint my nails. I really feel like getting out of the house and singing karaoke...lol Or I could go do relaxing yoga to try and calm down for the night but what fun would that be?! LOL

Thank you for listening to my scattered thoughts...LOL I warned you in the very beginning, I think my first blog post was even about that right?! Ahhhh the memories....my 1 year blogiversary is coming up in July...Maybe I'll have to do something really fun for that!! ;)

Nail Files 5/26/12 - You get 3 designs!! :)

Oh boy, it has been a while since I've uploaded one of these. My nails have not gone without polish trust me. I just haven't linked up with you guys. So let's see....how many designs do I have this time. Last time it was two...

This time it's 3!! :)

Ah yes....I found that I only had a few polishes that weren't shimmery. So I got two new polishes from N.Y.C. Color (Lexington Yellow and Water Street Blue) and I loved the little chicks so I decided to pair the two! (Hey that rhymed and I didn't even plan it!) I found this idea on You Tube, OF course! ;) The link is below.

This next one was an idea from one of my friends. Her baby was turning 1 and the party theme was Snoopy. So I found a picture of this pattern online and used a black striper to create the little Snoopy and Woodstock. :)

This last one was just this past week and I did both my fingers and my toes!! It's the same base color (Warpaint Beauty's, Shocking Pink) and then opposite tips and hearts. I think I liked the black tips better than the white ones. And I found that painting white tips on your toes is rather difficult. I won't include the picture of what my hands looked like when I was done...LOL

Oh here's a tip for creating hearts! Use a dotting tool (or something round) and put three little dots in a triangle shape to create a heart that's all filled in. :) See....isn't that easy?! :)

Btw, I am super excited about the 101 Challenge that I am doing for myself. I have created a list of 101 things that I want to try and do in 1001 days. If you want to know more about that, check out my 101 in 1001 page on my blog and follow my blog if you want to see my progress. :) Doing a pedicure every month was one of my goals, so there should be some cute pedicure designs in my near future! :)

Until next time
