Here is the wreath that I found on Pinterest (the tutorial link is under the picture)

Holiday Blog Challenge - Day 3

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

Welcome to the Third day of
Amber & Neely's Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge!!

I will be blogging about one Holiday themed topic everyday for the next 2 weeks!! (11/28 -12/9)
If you want more information, or want to join the fun click HERE for more information.

Today's topic is: Holiday decorations/decor

I love the Christmas tree, it is my favorite decoration. My hubby has been putting ours up every year but I am there to help. I help him string the lights - yay for artificial trees that you can spin ;) But my favorite part is hanging all of the ornaments.

This could fall under tradition too, but every year we get each other an ornament. That is a tradition that was passed down from my family - my mom did that for my brother and I when we were little. So every ornament that I hang has some sort of memory attached. I love reliving the memories and it helps make the Holiday that much more fun! :)

Holiday Blog Challenge - Day 2

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

Welcome to the Second day of
Amber & Neely's Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge!!

I will be blogging about one Holiday themed topic everyday for the next 2 weeks!! (11/28 -12/9)

If you want more information, or want to join the fun click HERE for more information.

Today's Topic is: Favorite holiday tradition, new or old

There are so many to choose from!! Well, I am a sucker for the holidays so I am going to go with going to see Christmas lights. This is one from my childhood. (There aren't many Christmas lights in Arizona)

When I was younger we used to go and see Christmas lights every year. One year in particular we went up to a neighborhood in Salt Lake City, UT and they had a whole block of houses that were decorated. You drove through the neighborhood and each house had a sign up that was part of the Christmas story. So by the time you went through the neighborhood you were able to read the whole nativity story. I wish they had something like that here in Arizona. I would love to go and look at lights like THAT again. :)

Holiday Blog Challenge - Day 1

Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge

Welcome to the First day of
Amber & Neely's Fabulous Holiday Blog Challenge!!

I will be blogging about one Holiday themed topic everyday for the next 2 weeks!! (11/28 -12/9)
If you want more information, or want to join the fun click HERE for more information.

Today's topic is: Favorite gift EVER received

There are so many to choose from, the one that pops into my head first is the Karaoke machine that my parents bought me. I honestly can't remember if that was Christmas or birthday tho because the two are so close together. But I loved that karaoke machine. It has fun memories attached. I don't think I ever really used it for real karaoke but I remember using the mic to sing songs with my friend Rachel. :)

Another gift that is closely tied to the karaoke machine was the blue Sapphire necklace and earrings that my hubby got me the first Christmas that we went out. :)

O How Pinteresting!! 11/23/11

google
Pinteresting Wednesdays actually stems from The Vintage Apple blog. The image above links to that blog. Check it out!

Happy Thanksgiving!! well tomorrow anyway - I hope everyone has something to be really thankful for this year. :)

I wasn't on Pinterest very much this week but it just figures that when I went to go and put this post together I ended up pinning new things instead. I guess I was going through withdrawal without even realizing it! HA!

All of these pins that I found this week are something that I would so make!! They are all easy and I plan on trying them ALL out!! :)

Food
mmmmm Sugar cookies!! These only call for like 3 ingredients and one of them is a cake mix! I am totally trying these!!! :)

Sugar Cookie Recipe

Tips & Tricks
I found a whole bunch of uses for Hydrogen Peroxide. I didn't realize how many things you could use it for. The first was a recipe for making your nails white. This quick paste is simply 1 Tbs Peroxide, 2.2 Tbs Baking Soda. Let this paste sit on your nails for 5 minutes, rise off and voila! White nails! There are also other uses linked below the picture. :)

Other uses for Peroxide

DIY Product
Next is a recipe for liquid soap. I have really been into making my own cleansers lately. I found a recipe for an eye makeup remover on Pinterest and made that a while back (Eye-Makeup Remover blog post) and ever since I'd much rather spend less and make stuff as simple as eye makeup remover or in this case, liquid hand soap!! This recipe uses 1 1/2 bars of grated soap and it makes 2 Liters of liquid soap! I think I must try this soap next! :)

Liquid Soap Recipe

Christmas
The next thing I found was a recipe for Cinnamon Applesauce dough. I had all but forgotten about this, but as soon as I found it the memories came flooding back. When I was little my mom had these ornaments on our Christmas tree. They weren't as fancy as Martha Stewart's, but I think the simplicity of them was great! I am so glad that I found this recipe! I think my Christmas tree must have some! :)

Cinnamon Applesauce Bird Ornament Recipe

DIY - Jewelry
The last idea that I found was for a simple Pearl and Twine bracelet. I loved it!! It is definitely something that I could make fairly easily and love to wear it too! :)

Funnies
I found this cute picture of the tiny little kitten letting the big dog know who's boss! It so reminded me of my cat Rogue. When she was the new kitten in our house she stood up for herself against our other cat on their very first meeting. We knew that Rogue would have no problems taking charge. lol

Finally let's wrap up with some Wednesday Wisdom. "Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles; it empties today of its strength." ~ Mary Engelbreit

I think I needed this wisdom at the beginning of last week. lol That one is worth framing!

Ahhhhh Twilight!!! - No Spoilers I promise :)

Yes it is true, I am a "Twihard". I devoured the Twilight books when they came out, I swear there were a couple that I read in like 2 days. This coming from the person who is currently reading 4 books and just barely finished one after taking Ohhh...4 months to read it. LOL

Well, as I'm sure we all are aware, the first installment of the Breaking Dawn movie came out on Friday. And while I was at home in bed for the midnight showing I did have to go opening day! I went with my hubby and my friend Julie (who is also a Twihard - hope she doesn't mind being called that. lol)

Now since it's been so long since I've read the books, I don't remember every single little detail about what was wrong or different but there were some things that were. And I guess some of it was good because it added even MORE suspense to the movie - so I'm not really gunna knock it.

I think the most fun about going opening weekend is that the group of people in the theater are sooooo different than say if you went 2 weeks after opening. Everyone in the theater could definitely be classified as a Twihard so it makes everything more fun! :)

You get hear all the different reactions from people, the guys cheering for Alice, all the women gasping and cheering the first time Jacob took off his shirt. LOL And it's always fun to pick out the people who obviously haven't read the books and don't know what is coming in the last movie. LOL

Overall, I'd say the movie was really good. I was really leery about splitting the book into two movies but I think they pulled it off rather well. I can't wait to see the next one!!! Too bad I have to wait a whole YEAR!!!! Fail Twilight producers, Fail....

So, if you like Twilight - what "team" are you on Jacob or Edward? Or have you picked someone else? ;)

O How Pinteresting!! 11/16/11

google
Pinteresting Wednesdays actually stems from The Vintage Apple blog. The image above links to that blog. Check it out!

Okay so last week I came down with a really bad cold and I completely forgot to put this post together. It wasn't until my friend Jill and I were talking about Pinterest that I realized it. And that was on Thursday...Oops! At least I am back and feeling MUCH better!! :) My co-workers are happy to have me back I am sure since I worked about 5 hours all last week.

Anyway, here are the pins that I have found this week. I will try to keep this one short. Since my last few have been like novels. lol

We'll start with food, since there is sooooo much of it on Pinterest. lol First I found the BEST way to make cinnamon buns, I can't stop thinking about making them so they must be good.

"Recipe" for Cinnamon Bun Method

Look at those, don't they just look yummy?! Plus you don't have to wait so long for them. You just cook pre-packaged cinnamon rolls in your waffle iron!! Genius!

Next is the yummy Applesauce Spice Cupcakes with Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting. I would want this recipe just for the Frosting recipe!! LOL

Apple Spice Cupcake Recipe

Next are 3 Craft projects I found. Yes, I am already finding cute stuff for Christmas! And I am NOT ashamed to post them. LOL First is a cute ornament idea that at first glance I thought "O those look too elegant to be easy". I was terribly wrong, they are Super Easy. The link is HERE. The link down below is to an ornament site with cute ideas! Next is cute coaster made out of washers. And for being made out of hardware supplies I think they are Super cute! And last is a tutorial on how to makes Ornament Bulb Wreaths. I just may have to make one! :)

Ornament Wreath Tutorial

Lastly are 3 things that totally remind me of myself. LOL For those of you who know me, you know that I definitely LOVE a cup of coffee in the morning. And more often than not, it is the Only thing I have in the morning before lunch. So the first pin fit me perfectly. I may have to print that out and post it in my office. lol

Second is a math trick that I learned when I was in elementary school. Needless to say I learned how to multiply by 9 pretty well. Math and I have a Love Hate relationship - I love to hate it. LOL So this trick is by far one of the greatest things I learned in elementary school. :)

And last is a cute nail design that made me feel a little nostalgic. It reminded me of that black paper that you could scratch off and reveal the beautiful colors underneath. Talk about totally fun! :)

Thanks for reading all about my Pinteresting finds!! And as always I'd like to end with some Wednesday Wisdom. "Each day I am thankful for nights that turned into mornings; Friends that turned into family; Dreams that turned into reality and Likes that turned into love."

11-11-11 - A day made for wishes

11-11-11, I'm not sure where the superstition comes from, but people say that if you make a wish at 11:11 that it is more likely to come true. So I think today must be a day made for making wishes.

There are lots of wishes on my heart today. I wish that my hubby could find a job. I wish that I lived closer to those that I love or at least I wish I could see them more often. I wish that my hubby and I could become parents. It feels like I have wished that wish for a very long time.

I don't know if 11:11 wishes come true. But I am going to make one tonight at 11:11 on 11-11-11. It never hurt to make a wish right?! ;)

What about you? If you could have one wish come true what would it be? I don't know if you are supposed to tell your wishes but there is a thought for you. :)

Ahhhh, Fall

I don't know about anyone else, but Fall is my all-time favorite season! I love how crisp the air gets on Fall mornings, I love wearing long-sleeved comfy shirts, I love sipping hot apple cider and I love how the trees change colors. I think it is simply the most beautiful of all the seasons.

I moved to Arizona 10 years ago and I have missed Fall every since. In Arizona (well at least in Phoenix) there is no such thing as seasons. You have hot, hotter, Hellish and a few days that actually feel like fall. It is those few days when the leaves fall off the trees in pure shock and that usually happens in like January. LOL

This "season" cycle is so much different from what I grew up with. I grew up near Salt Lake City and other than my friends and family that live there I miss the mountains the most. October and November are the months of the year when the Wasatch Mountains would change colors. I loved living so close to the mountains and I loved that I was able watch the leaves change as Fall emerged.

*Sigh* isn't that just beautiful?! O I miss those mountains!! Today is the first day that it has been cooler in Arizona, so I guess I am a little reminiscent of what Fall was like growing up.

When I was little I was your typical child and could be found in a pile of freshly raked leaves. As I got older, I would rake leaves just so I could jump and play in them! lol

Playing in the Leaves at Mom-mom's House

Another of my favorite past times was going up to see Grandma Perry in Sugar House and going to the Soup Kitchen. They had the BEST Chicken Noodle Soup ever! I miss the Soup Kitchen. I was just thinking about that restaurant the other day and how I would love to go there. It was this little hole in the wall, where they just served soup, homemade soup! mmmmm It's been at least 15 years since I've gone there; I wonder if it is still around?!

Sugar House Park
Grandma Perry's House

Sugar House Park was not far from where my Grandma lived and it was always very beautiful up there.

This is a picture of me and my Great Grandpa Perry before he passed away. I love the Fall trees in the background and the bloomed roses, such a mixture of the end of summer and the beginning of Fall.

So now, except for the occasional cooler days in Arizona I have to live out my longings for Fall through my mother. I am so glad that one of us still lives where the leaves change. And I'm even more thankful that she thinks about me enough to send me beautiful Fall pictures! :)

I hope that everyone is enjoying some Fall weather this month. I know that in some places you are already getting snow. If that is the case enjoy the snow too! That is also another rarity in Arizona. lol Sit back, sip some apple cider or hot cocoa, watch the leaves change or the snow fall and write down something that you are thankful for.

Today, I am thankful for all of the wonderful memories that I have of crisp Fall weather, of family and friends, of loved ones who have come and gone and I'm thankful that I have another day in which to make more memories.

O How Pinteresting!! 11/2/11

google
Pinteresting Wednesdays actually stems from The Vintage Apple blog. The image above links to that blog. Check it out!

Welcome to another Pinteresting Wednesday!! This week I have quite a few pins because I did the Halloween editions and I didn't get to share some of the awesome stuff that I found over the past two weeks.

So, I am going to start off with these Awesome Cupins (cupcake/muffins), at least that's what I'm calling them. This is a recipe that I MADE this week. We had our Halloween Potluck on Thursday at work and I thought Pumpkin cupcakes would be perfect. I found this recipe a few months ago, and thought it was SUPER easy and it only called for TWO ingredients; a cake mix and a can of pumpkin that's it, no eggs, no oil. In the original recipe it called for a yellow cake mix but I used a spice cake mix instead and it made it more like pumpkin pie flavored. mmmmmm <3

Anyway, they came out more like muffins than actual cupcakes because they didn't rise like cupcakes do. But I figured if it's in a cupcake liner and has frosting on it - it's a cupcake. LOL I did frost them with cream cheese frosting and put little black eyes and mouth on them so they looked like ghosts.

Pumpkin Cupins Recipe

I guess since we are here, I'll continue with the food theme. First, I love Chipotle!! So anything that says it's going to be similar I have to repin! Next thing I love is Cherry Limeade's and I found a recipe for those too! Then last but not least, I found the most adorable cupcakes - yes those are cupcakes with a brownie in the middle.

Cherry Limeade

Chipotle Chicken Bowl
Hamburger Cupcakes

Next theme, Beauty; gotta have my girly fix! :) I found an idea for keeping track of bobby pins, whoever thought of using a paperclip holder was a genius! Next a beautiful nail polish color, O.P.I. Black Cherry Chutney oooOoooo - I must say it's very dangerous to have nail polish blog posts sent directly to your email inbox. And last, the reminder of a smokey eye fail.

I told you about the potluck, well that day I decided to do my makeup different and tried to do a Halloween inspired smokey eye. I vow to never, ever, ever try to use a black eye shadow when creating a smokey eye, ever again. Talk about Fail... I was able to fix it so it didn't look TOO horrible but yeah, no black eye shadow... Black eye shadow is BAD Mkay?! lol

Next I found some fun tips and tricks. The first one is beauty related but it still fits here too. I found a lady who is in love with sock bun curls just like me and she had some very good tips and tricks on how to make them pretty. I am really going to have to borrow some of her ideas! ;) Second link is chock full of tips and tricks, these are mainly related to around the house and kitchen tips but they are awesome!! And the last link is a link for iPhone apps for little kids; they have games as well as educational apps too.

Sock-bun Curl Tips
Household Tips and Tricks
iPhone Apps for Kids

Last is Funnies!! Here are 3 comics that made me laugh. The first one may have a swear word in it but it is still hilarious!! The second one I can really relate to and the last one well...You must know I AM a Twilight fan, but that one is just plain hilarious!! ;)

Finally we are to the end of this week's Pinteresting Wednesday post and as always I want to end with some Wednesday Wisdom."It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, You fail by default." - J.K. Rowling
