I need to know, What do you do when the fun things that you used to enjoy doing just aren't fun anymore? Or maybe I need some fun ideas, What do you do for fun?

Swagbucks, O how I Love You!!!

Okay so now it is time to talk Swagbucks!!! I know I've mentioned it at least once, but Swagbucks is something that is super exciting to me because it's FREE money!!! As a child I'm sure your parents, in frustration, asked you "What, do you think money grows on trees?!" Well as it turns out, it doesn't grow on trees. But it DOES magically appear when you do a simple online search. And who doesn't do online searches?! So if you do online searches be sure to read this post because it applies to You!!! LOL

Swagbucks is a website that you join for Free. Once you join the site, all you ever have to do to earn free money is use the Swagbucks search engine instead of Google or Yahoo and you will randomly get their currency which is called (go figure) Swagbucks. :) If you use IE (eww) or Firefox :) you can download their toolbar for Free. I like the toolbar because it is easy access to their search engine. Unfortunately the toolbar can't be used with Google Chrome :(

So now that you know what Swagbucks is, you are probably wondering HOW it is Free money right?! Well, once you build up your Swagbuck currency you can turn it in for prizes. The main Swagbucks site has all sorts of free prizes. Everything from gift cards to iPods to game consoles 'n games plus they even have jewelry, clothes, kitchen stuff, movies, and music etc... You name it, they probably have it. I never save up enough to buy any of those items because they are Outrageously priced. Even some of their gift cards are, except one.

The one item that I save up to buy is their $5 Amazon Gift Card. It is 450 Swagbucks, which may sound like a lot but it's not, trust me. I usually get somewhere between $7 - 10 Swagbucks randomly when I use their search engine. And because that is the only search engine I use I can usually get a few of those a day. So 450 is saved up pretty easily. So, I search, I save up and then I purchase the $5 gift card and apply the gift card code to my Amazon account. The money on the Amazon gift cards never expire so I can just save up and then I can use that Free money to buy whatever I want, whenever I want. And usually you buy stuff for less Swagbucks than saving up for the same items and purchasing them on their site.

The first gift card I redeemed was in the middle of June and I just applied my 6th gift card to my Amazon account. That is $30 dollars for Free in just about 2 months!!! Not bad for just searching online eh?!

Now because I am trying to save up as many Swagbuck's as I can, I do search for even common sites that I know the URL for. I do searches for Gmail, Facebook, Youtube, I even search for the Swagbucks site sometimes. Out of all of the common sites I search, I think I get more Swagbuck's just simply searching for Facebook than anything else. Coincidence? Maybe not....LOL

So if you want to get Free money to save up for that one item that you have wanted forever, or if you are saving for Christmas, why not get Free money just for doing online searches?! I highly, highly, Highly recommend this website!!! Swagbucks is Awesome!!!

For those of you who already love Swagbucks, I'll have to share some of my secrets with you sometime soon. ;)

Quizzical Questions: Social Networking

So this isn't the first blog I have done. I did start one when I took my html class last semester and it was called Quizzical Questions. I would go and post random questions in the hopes that my readers would answer them. I couldn't come up with enough questions, and no one ever really participated so it kinda pittered out. One of my friends mentioned that she really liked it and that I should try to incorporate my QQ blog into this one. Which I think is a brilliant idea!! So you'll get some Quizzical Questions every once in a while. ;)

Today's Quizzical Question comes from my love for Social Networking. For those who know me, you have prolly figured out that I am really into Facebook. Well I am not just into Facebook. I have joined most of the major Social Networking sites. I have a Facebook account, a Twitter account, a LinkedIn account, a Google+ account, I still have a Myspace account but it's prolly full of cobwebs by now. Plus I check Klout to see Social my rating.

Facebook is by far my favorite. I like the interaction, I like the games, I like having permission to talk to a wall and I like the fact that you can "Like" something. Personally I think everything online should have a "Like" button, even blogs!

Out of all of the accounts I have Twitter is prolly my next favorite. That one I use mainly for Swagbuck purposes. - We'll talk Swagbucks later ;) - LinkedIn is just for work contacts mainly and Google+ has promise but it's so boring right now. I don't think that one has really kicked off yet.

So today's Quizzical Question is simple.

What are your thoughts on Social Networking? Love it, hate it?! If you use any Social Networking site, which is your favorite and why?

Waffles Vs. Spaghetti

In one of my posts a few days ago I referred to myself as spaghetti and told you that I would have to tell you about that later. Well it's later. That reference comes from a Christian book called Men are like Waffles and Women are like Spaghetti by Bill & Pam Farrel.

My hubby, Andy, and I read the book a few years ago and it really us understand one another better. It is written for couples, if I remember right there are even "His" and "Her" chapters. However, I would still recommend this book to everyone whether they are in a relationship or not. Especially if you are interested in a relationship. It really helps you understand the difference between the way men and women think and process information.

The basic idea is that men process thoughts and ideas in boxes like the squares of waffles. They can usually think about one topic at a time. Now that topic might have other topics within the original topic, but it is usually still lumped under one broader subject. Take sports example, men can talk sports and can talk about all aspects of sports, from teams, to players, to different types of sports and everything makes sense. But they generally have a harder time going from talking about sports to talking about something like clothes.

A women's thought process is more like a plate of spaghetti, so everything that a woman thinks about is somehow attached to another topic. So, an original topic of sports can easily move to thoughts about kids and then to the topic of school and what they need to buy at the store for lunches /dinner that night or what clothes they should wear in the morning. So they can move from sports to clothes in no time flat. Women's thoughts have a tendency to be more driven by emotions so even though that strain of thoughts may not make sense to a man, it makes Perfect sense to a woman.

The book makes everything a lot clearer and it really does help when you are trying to understand why your man can't just follow you. And it can help men understand how a women can go off on a totally random topic and leave his head spinning.

Did I Ever Tell You...

My all time favorite Dr. Seuss book is called Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?! It is so hilarious I love the whole book. But I love this part so much because it just keeps going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny...LOL

"Oh, the jobs people work at!

Out west, near Hawtch-Hawtch,

there’s a Hawtch-Hawtcher Bee-Watcher.

His job is to watch…

is to keep both his eyes on the lazy town bee.
A bee that is watched will work harder, you see.

Well…he watched and he watched.

But, in spite of his watch,
that bee didn’t work any harder. Not Mawtch.

So somebody said,

“Our old-bee-watching man

just isn’t bee-watching as hard as he can.

He ought to be watched by another Hawtch-Hawtcher!

The thing that we need
is a Bee-Watcher-Watcher!”

WELL…

The Bee-Watcher-Watcher watched the Bee-Watcher.

He didn’t watch well. So another Hawtch-Hawtcher

had to come in as a Watch-Watcher-Watcher!

And today all the Hawtchers who live in Hawtch-Hawtch

are watching on Watch-Watcher-Watchering-Watch,

Watch-Watching the Watcher who’s watching the bee.
You’re not a Hawtch-Watcher. You’re lucky, you see!"

Some time you need to check this book out at the library or buy it, it is worth buying! I found it online, but there aren't pictures, just text. And a picture is really worth a 1000 words with this book! :)

Memories, Memories, Memories

This post is dedicated to two extraordinary women. Both of whom touch many lives and will be remembered for all that they did, how they lived and by all of the memories that they gave to us.

Today is a sad day for the Pearmain family. I was told that my great grandmother, on my mom's side, passed away last night. Beth Walters was a great woman who was very sweet and spunky and she will be very missed. She just celebrated her 90th birthday in April. I really wish I had been able to go and see her on her birthday but was unable to go to her birthday party. I really hate living so far away from my family. Even though she was 90, Grandma Walters was very sharp until just within the past few days.

There was another woman who also touched so many lives, and we are remembering her today because it was 4 years ago today that she passed away. That woman was Mom-mom (Sandie Gerber, my mom's mom). She had diabetes and suffered from many ailments in her last year. She passed away at the age of 62.

Both of these women did great things in their lives. And I have so many memories with both of them. I would like to share one about each of them.

My memories about my Grandma Walters always consisted of food and fun. I remember as a young girl we would always go over to her house on Christmas morning. She lived way up in SLC, Utah and would have everyone from the family over for a Christmas breakfast. I especially remember the smell of bacon and eggs and got to see all of my extended family on Christmas morning. Unfortunately I didn't know Grandma Walters as well as I knew Mom-mom. But Grandma Walters will always hold a special place in my heart.

Mom-mom was very dear to me. (I coined her with the name Mom-mom when I was very young, since she was my mom's mom. The name stuck, and I think over the years all the grand-kids ended up calling her Mom-mom)  I did know her better because she lived closer to me and my family. I have very simple memories of Mom-mom. I remember spending afternoons and weekends at her house playing with her cats, watching movies and playing on her piano. She had a player piano and we would sit and play the rolls and sing all the old songs. I did end up with the player piano and it is a joy to have in my house. It brings back a lot of memories.

So today I want to reflect on the past, the fun times that I have shared over the years with both of these very special women. They will never be forgotten. And they will always hold a very special place in my heart. <3
